CASE STUDY

Domestic Logistics for Industrial Equipment

Aeronet Worldwide has been entrusted with high-volume moves of HVAC freight.

Rooftop HVAC units

A widely known for manufacturer and supplier HVAC equipment (unnamed in this case study) is a client of Aeronet Worldwide’s Chicago station. For the first five years of handling their account, we only performed LTL and FTL services for them and their manufacturers. In 2021, we were awarded a series of larger, peak season shipments for their California and Tennessee facilities. We were preforming daily moves of 6-8 trailers out of each location for a couple of months.

Services Utilized:

A widely known for manufacturer and supplier HVAC equipment (unnamed in this case study) is a client of Aeronet Worldwide’s Chicago station. For the first five years of handling their account, we only performed LTL and FTL services for them and their manufacturers. In 2021, we were awarded a series of larger, peak season shipments for their California and Tennessee facilities. We were preforming daily moves of 6-8 trailers out of each location for a couple of months.

Up to that point, Aeronet was handling approximately 450 shipments a month for the client. With the addition of those two locations, that number immediately increased to over 1,000 shipments, then jumped to 2,300 the following month!

In all, Aeronet is handling the client’s full rooftop air conditioning units and parts, such as filters, coils, compressors, and heat pumps. The key to Aeronet obtaining this industrial business was the result of reducing cost by renegotiating rates with vendors, finding smarter routings, and building pallets better.

In 2023, we were the beneficiary of business resulting from a major transportation company ceasing operation. The client had 125 shipments still within this company’s network of service providers, so Aeronet was asked to help rescue that freight. This took a painstaking amount of detailed work that included tracking down that freight and coordinating pickup with various carriers, amidst their employee layoffs and terminal closures. During the process, Aeronet staff discovered multiple documentation errors, which led to us actually finding over 400 shipments that needed to be recovered. In spite of all that, all shipments were recovered, making the client extremely happy!

Also, that year, Aeronet was awarded half of the business coming out of the client’s Texas warehouse. A year later, that increased to handling 100% of that freight in addition to being awarded half of the freight coming out of their Mississippi warehouse, as well as some inbound freight.

In April 2024, alone, Aeronet handled about 3,500 shipments for them across all six facilities within our scope.

The client continues to trust Aeronet with its freight because we have proven a low claim rate, quick turnaround, and outstanding customer service. And they also appreciate the ongoing partnership, where we continue to find ways to maximize their supply chain.
